About the event

Brenda B., Founder of the ONE Center with Annette McQueen.

We are so excited to offer you this day, a "Soulbatical" for deep rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation.  This is a day to answer the call from within to slow down the busy pace of life, to pause, rest and tend to one's own well being.  Contemplative practices throughout the day include mindful movement, guided meditation, forest bathing, and sound healing.

With Brenda's warm, welcoming presence you'll be invited to arrive more fully into the group in whatever way feels right for you.  Weather permitting, we'll move onto the land to receive the medicine of shinrin-yoku, also referred to as forest bathing.  Research indicates spending time in the forest and by the water helps decrease stress, boosts functioning of the immune system, and helps relieve anxiety and depression.  Together, we'll  slow down and settle -  grounding inside and out.   Following morning practice, we'll share a potluck style meal.  Delicous soup and bread will be provided.  Bring something to share with the group if that feels right for you.

Following a nourishing lunch, we'll go deeper into rest through the portal of a sound healing session. Annette’s crystal singing bowls to carry you into a deep practice of restorative rest. Through gently guided breathwork, Annette will help you reconnect with your physical senses and your heart, giving special attention to the heart chakra of each person. The vibration/energy of alchemy quartz crystal singing bowls changes us physically on a mind/body level, as well as energetically on the subtle energy bodies. The sounds from singing bowls help settle the mind, can support the brain in entering a peaceful theta state (or pre-sleep), and engages the parasympathetic nervous system to let the body relax and access the full benefits of rest.  Experiencing peace of mind and a joy filled heart awaits you after this day of practice, caring for oneself.

Please note both the walk and retreat will happen rain or shine and the registration fee is nonrefundable. Forest therapy invites us to befriend all kinds of weather.  Sheltered sit spots on the land provide refuge but if it looks like a rainy day is predicted, wear waterproof gear and dress in layers.  Avoid COTTON clothing and dress wisely.  Sit pads and chairs provided.

The forest and Gallagher Cove at ONE are beautiful! Come experience the healing power of place.  Let's breathe in the beauty of nature, take in the medicine of the land, and bathe in healing sounds from beyond,  allowing ourselves to rest deeply.
