Healing Song

Last summer our Healing Song group was such a delight we have created another series to continue gathering! We will meet outside in nature the second Friday of the month from 6-8PM May 12th through August 11th, 2023.

Our singing circles are for those seeking more joy, peace of mind, and connection with others. While it is not therapy, research shows it is healing to share our stories, sing together, and be in nature. They are all therapeutic activities that support our health and well-being in this ever-changing world with amplified stress-related conditions like anxiety and depression. Join us to sing your blues away!

Shy of singing? Let go of producing, perfecting and performing and give yourself permission to enjoy the medicine of music by participating in whatever way is right for you. Listening and/or humming works great too! Songs are short and taught by call and response, all chosen carefully for messages that are uplifting and inspire healing. We sing them to become more aware of our energy and feelings, for joy/oxytocin, and to soothe ourselves with words of peace and soul care.

This group is co-facilitated by community song leader Beth Kim and Dr. Brenda Butterfield, counselor, forest therapy guide, and mindfulness teacher. Seeking enjoyment and connection, Brenda and Beth joined a local women’s singing circle led by Fehlya Erhlander and discovered the absolute delight of singing with others in nature! Recognizing the therapeutic benefits and healing power it offers to support health and well-being Healing Song was co-created by Brenda and Fehlya. It started at The ONE Center in 2022. This summer Beth is delighted to lead with Brenda!

COVID: We will gather mostly outdoors, weather permitting/preference of the group. Please bring your own water bottle or tea and weather appropriate clothing. There will be a participation waiver to sign prior to attending.
